This project involved the total renovation of a prominent 1926 residence in the Town of Chevy Chase, MD. The owners, long term residents, were concerned about the future of their family home. Consistent with our mission, Muse Development promised to save their home and update it though a respectful renovation. On the exterior, a small addition, enclosing a ground floor screened porch with a new master bathroom above seamlessly matched the materials of stucco walls and clay tile roofs of the historic structure. On the interior, the design converted a series of small rooms into a more gracious, open floor plan. The basement concrete floor was also lowered, allowing for additional living spaces of a recreation room and guest bedroom. All bathrooms were renovated and the new kitchen featured custom cabinetry, stone countertops and professional appliances. Finishes throughout the house were modified, and extensive new lighting was added, allowing for a more contemporary design. All new HVAC systems, equipment and spray-foam insulation were installed, allowing for an energy efficient home.
